This spot is located near the high point of the Chief Joseph Scenic Byway, at a altitude of about 8000ft. In the late afternoon, this location provides a spectacular view of the Clark’s Fork of the Yellowstone River. You get an entirely different view if you turn left from the NE direction this shot was taken at.
It is possible to get this spot in both summer and winter. It might produce some intriguing results if you care to give it a try.
TIMES
Late afternoon is the time to try this shot.. The whole of the Clark’s Fork is side lit at this time and the view is quite impressive. A 50mm focal length was used for the above shot.

LENS: 28-70mm for 35mm camera, 17-40 mm for crop sensor cameras
FILTERS: 85A warming filter or shoot RAW and adjust color temp during conversion
