Current as of 5 Feb, 2009

Regular readers will be aware that in addition to writing and teaching I also review products that interest me. I’ve been doing so for about 20 years in magazines, and for the past 10 years on this site as well. I am not an equipment reviewer per-se, but am interested in how, as a photographer, various tools meet my needs.

Manufacturers will lend and I will accept the loan of cameras and lenses, but these are usually available for only a week or two at a time. Since this is far too short a time to really get to know a piece of gear I therefore will buy various products for long term testing. Seems extravagant, I know, but it’s the business that I’m in. At the end of some months, or in some cases years, I will sell the gear and use the proceeds to purchase new equipment for long-term field testing.

It’s time for spring cleaning (or at least late winter cleaning). I have quite a bit of kit that’s built up over the past couple of years – some of it for testing, some for projects or assignments that are now concluded. All are now for sale.

Hasselblad

I have been shooting with a Hasselblad H series camera and lenses for the past five years. Over that time I have used them with at first a Kodak DCS Pro back, then a Phase One P25, P45 and P45+.

Recently I shot with the Phase One P65+ in Antarctica and will be upgrading to it later this month (review to come). I have decided to also switch to a Phase One 645 camera system, and therefore my complete Hasselblad system is available for sale. I consider the Hasselblad H system and lenses to be as fine as anything on the market, but as a long-time Phase One back owner I feel that there is now a clear divergence between Hasselblad and Phase One, especially when it comes to future lens comparability, and so I am best served by taking advantage of Phase One’s program which allows switching platforms when upgrading a back.

All items are available separately. If you wish to purchase a body and lens, or two or more lenses at the same time, an extra 5% discount will be offered.
