When I imported files most came in OK, but a folder all came in with a question mark in the upper right corner. When I clicked on question mark the following message was placed on the screen. "The sidecar file can not be fully updated because there are conflicts". No information was given as to what conflicts or how to resolve any conflicts. These files are all *.nef files stored on an external drive that I am copying into Lightroom.

I have posted the above on the Adobe forum and as of yet no one has even responded.  I don't know whether I am important enough to have some one answer my question, but I thought that I would try on this forum to see if I met with someone who might know the answer to my question.  I am impressed with the knowledge here.

Can anyone explain and help?

I went through this too. The activity monitor is constantly going trying to update the sidecar file. I think the only solution is to import both the image file and XMP again. I had to delete the files to stop the issue with the activity bar and the ?.

I was beginning to wonder that nobody knew what I was talking about.  Thanks for giving me some feedback.
