Hp had okay longevity if you used their ink on their paper. Canon had okay longevity if you gave them a nice, smooth coating of concrete about 3 feet thick.
These new canons and the new Hp are all going to pigment ink so longevity is going to go way up.
The new Hp is getting the highest Wilhelm (sp?) numbers yet. Still looking forward to seeing a review of that one.
I don't think anyone knows what is up with the canon right now.

Which inks are rated highly? The new pigment ink printer wont be available except to reviewers for the next month or so! I expect to be givng a report as soon as I get one!
I have just acquired an 8750 and wonder what people use for matte especially B&W? So, does anyone know if there is an equivalent HP paper to Epson Matte Heavyweight?
