Has anyone ever been to the CCP for a print viewing? I knew their collection was extensive, however I never realized they have thousands of original prints for viewing from people like Ansel Adams, Edward Weston, Richard Avedon, etc....
I'm planning a trip to Phoenix next month, and even though it looks like you have to schedule a viewing session in advance, it seems like it's well worth the drive down to Tuscon.

Jayhawk,
I went to CCP for two separate semesters to learn under Todd Walker back in '78 and '83. Never intended to get a degree, just enjoyed the school. I did some volunteer work archiving some Minor White work. Back then the museum was in an old bank building.
Email me about what comes about, I'd be interested to see how it's grown.

I have viewed prints at CCP on several occasions. It's a unique opportunity to be face to face with some of the finest photography work anywhere. The next best thing to owning an original print in my opinion.
Just make sure you make an appointment and that you know precisely what you want to see. Ask for a list of available prints. Once there, it is difficult to make changes to what you are scheduled to see.
Regards,
Alain
