I recently upgraded to ImagePrint v6.1 from version 5.6. After installing the new version I found out that the new version 6.x icc profiles for my printer altered the colors in the prints I was making from the same stored images I printed using the v5.6 profiles. I confirmed this with several other users and have attempted to get the support staff at ImagePrint to acknowledge that this is happening. I sent them a file as they requested twice now and so far they have not even responded to my email. I sent them the first file 2 weeks ago.

Oddly enough, no other user has needed anything from me to confirm this. I've been on the phone with users who just opened their own files and switched between the 5.6 and 6.x profiles while inside ImagePrint. They have all noticed a color shift. In some cases the color shift is subtle, in others it is substantial. They have done this with me on the phone and it has never taken anyone more than a minute to confirm this.

I have found out that they are using a new method to produce their icc profiles. Unfortunately, they did not let anyone know the new profiles altered the printed colors from those that were produced with the 5.6 profiles.

I have hundreds of images stored and I do reprints regularly. I cannot afford to redo the image files so that they will print properly with the new profiles. I cannot imagine them creating new profiles that will cause color shifts.

Has this company had so much success that it no longer believes it needs to respond to cusomers with current support contracts?

My Best Advice is to return Image Print and look at other brands of RIP's.  Colorburst has an amazing customer service and really stand behind their product.  If you are only using a few different papers I would consider just having custom profiles made.  I have a great Gal that charges $50-$100 per profile.

Image print did make a decent product but their customer service is HORID, pre 5.6 the product was more of pain than it was worth.  I was getting pretty amazing colors with the Epson drivers and then I purchased the Colorburst and was blown away.  Trouble free use and when there is a problem they pick up the phone and walk you through it.

I don't know how Colorbyte is going to stay in business.

Good Luck!
