Moab Entrada Surface difference

Anybody here using Moab Entrada paper notice a difference in the texture of the surface between the 300 and 190 weight paper?
I just switched from printing on UltraSmooth to Moab because I needed a paper with a whiter base.  I proofed my images on the 190 weight Moab paper and I'm printing the finals on the 300 weight paper.  There's a noticeable difference in the surface smoothness of the two papers.  Has anyone else experienced this?

The answer is yes.  I just spoke with someone at Moab and they confirmed that there is a surface difference between the papers.  Apparently  thicker papers have a rougher texture.   On the images I'm printing it takes on the appearance of increased film grain.

Your post prompted me to perform a similar comparision with Hahnemuhle Photo Rag, I which I just recently bought 13x19 in 308gsm and 8.5x11 in the lighter weight. Same thing, the thicker paper has a bit more texture. I don't find it objectionable, though, in fact I prefer the texture of the heavier paper.

Not to steer off topic but has anyone experienced surface flaking with Entrada? I tried a few sample sheets about two years ago and I decided not to buy this paper because it would flake quite a bit. I have never had this problem with Ultrasmooth and have been using it since. Has this been corrected by Moab?

yes, a fair degree of surface flaking if you don't brush the surface prior to printing. I haven't checked some older prints yet to see if the surface has flaked any more  but I will at my first opportunity.

All fine art matte papers need to be brushed prior to use............
