Hello everyone, I took this photo under smoldering sun in Calico, Nevada. I did my best in Photoshop but I was reading in a previous post about EC ? and ACR and ways of improving the photos in RAW, something about working with contrast at zero instead of the default 25 etc. I only have one exposure to work with. Please fell free to rework the image and if you prefer I would post the color one. Thanks, Andres

I just noticed that the dimensions changed from 1074 x 716 to 800 x 533 is this part of the Luminous landscape standards?

If you could post a link to the raw file, it would be interesting to workup.
It's been a while since we've had a "give this a go in post processing" thread.

Thanks Tim, pardon my ignorance but I only post on websites like this one, or Fred Miranda's site. Do I need to have my own web page in order to have a direct link to a RAW file?

[a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=73431\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a] If you want the exact image you uploaded to pbase to show, and any dimension is greater than 800, your link has to end in "/original.jpg" (after the image number).

Andres is having difficulty opening the above file - I've downloaded with no problem (change extension to .CR2) Can anyone else download this?

I got it, Tim.
Ray, do it like Tim says, right click, Save as, change extension to CR2 and save.

Thanks Tim! For some reason I could not open it from work but I tried .CR2 after right clicking and chahging the save target as and it worked at home.
Everyone please feel free to work on the RAW file and post your results. I would love to see and know how you accomplished your results.
Thanks,
Andres

Sky was basically a duplicate layer selected for the sky and blend mode multiply before the bw conversion, plus some fussing around for a couple of spots that got blown out in the process. My normal workflow left the sky a bit weak, and I liked the intense treatment in your original post so "kicked it up a notch".
The original RAW was well exposed so there was lots of latitude to work. At the end, for some reason it had an oversharpened feel so I added a selection mask and blurred the foreground about .3 px and burned it a bit.
BW conversion is also simple, a solid gray layer, blend mode color then a sat adj layer to darken/lighten and change the saturatioin of selected colors.
..forgot to clone out the people on the observation deck.
Andres - where was this taken?

Talk about exposing to the right! There are exactly 19 pixels clipped, in the RAW green channel. Can't get much closer than that!
