Fascinating piece, Michael!
While our studio almost certainly will never grow to comparable pace and volume of shooting, there is much to be learned from the tests.
Specifically, we spend to much time simply waiting. Putting a dollar value on our time shifts the scale in considering investments in new gear and software, as well as in studio management techniques. Even if we didn't realize any extra income for the investments, there' also value in going home at a reasonable hour each night and enriching activities outside the job.
My wife and business partner is no closer to agreeing to MF backs after reading the piece, but we are singing harmony on the value of faster computers and tethered shooting. There's hope!
