Oh my!

I will miss the old layout so much, always
an indication that I've come to one of my
favorite places on the web to read about
photography.

The vast dark areas very perfect for long
winter nights with a snowstorm around the
house.

But now, half of the page is green! *eek*

I for one will abuse my monitor profile to
make  green dark grey. I prefered the old
gold-back tone alot (!!) more!

You know when a website is top of the
edge in almost everything it offers, there
has to be sth ppl can be picky about.
I've now found mine!

Am I alone with this opinion?

For me the navigation bar on the left is easier to use than the old one on top. I don't mind the green (but then, I like to do landscape photography that often has lots of green in it.     .)

I have no problem with the width (in Opera) which some folks have been complaining about. I would like to see the main text background changed from black to a darkish grey, which would make reading long articles easier on the yes, but that's just a "druther", not a "gotta." With a grey background, the photos might want a simple black border.

All in all, I think it's good that the changes are coming gradually and seem to be undergoing fairly careful testing.

I haven't seen the old site, but I find text on a black background gets a little hard on the eyes after a while. I think it works for a site with very little text and much more prominent images that suit the dark feel. When the text reaches an article length I think it's not a good idea.
