I think they should employ something similar to Focus Magic, or DXO's Lens Softness sharpener... I could be mistaken, but the boys from Rawshooter had something akin to those called "detail extraction." Unsharp mask is useful, but I've found that tools such as Focus Magic are excellent for partially undoing the effects of the AA filter, as well as images that are slightly out of focus. Adding an alternative to ye olde Unsharp Mask would certainly keep Lightroom competitive with the latest DXO (and their newest UI is fairly similar to Lightroom's, suggesting they've already geared up to compete with Adobe's emerging program).

Another endorsement for Focus Magic, I use that as my capture sharpening. It also provides a really quick assessment as to the quality of focus by the extent of the adjustment it recommends.
