Hello,

Ok it could be because it is getting late, but I wanted to finish my new work station. I have everything ready except the z3100 driver. I can't find one or better I can't fine one which I can install... The driver CD doesn't work. Any one using a 64bit OS with a z3100 printer ?

Any idea there to get a driver ?

Thanks for the help.

Two drivers:

HP Designjet Z3100 Series HP GL/2 Driver
and
HP Designjet Z3100 Series Raster Driver

What the f**** is the real difference ? donwloaded they nearly contain the same files, and neither are installable or have an installer. How should I install a driver if there is no setup or exe file...

Sorry, but that really is sad fpr HP. Took me 5 minutes to find and install the Epson drivers.

Well,  I do not own this product, so I cannot tell you anything about specific experience but the following:

e.g. for XP Pro64 [a href=\"http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=3204974&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=3204970&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEnvOID=2002]here,  click on the driver name you are interested in and you get all the instructions...
e.g. for  Z3100 Raster Driver

Hope everything will work well for you.

P.S.: if you have not bought the HP GL/2 option (HP Graphic Language/2***) then you need the Raster version only (as usual with every "normal" kind of printer)

*** From pg. 112 of the Z3100 User Manual:
[span style=\'font-size:14pt;line-height:100%\']HP-GL/2 upgrade
HP-GL/2 is a standard file format that HP developed for CAD applications. It was designed to preserve
line and text quality and minimize network traffic.
The HP-GL/2 Upgrade Kit for the HP Designjet Z3100 Photo series enables your printer to understand
and print HP-GL/2 files; and it provides print job management facilities. It has the following advantages.
● Compatibility with existing HP-GL/2 files. Some applications (such as CAD applications) produce
HP-GL/2 files, or you may have produced HP-GL/2 files for printing on other HP printers.
● Reliability when printing over a busy network. HP-GL/2 files are relatively small and pass quickly
and easily over the network.
● Job queuing means that all HP-GL/2 jobs sent to the printer are added to a queue that you can
view and manage. For instance, you can change the order of the jobs, change the number of copies
to be printed, cancel jobs in the queue, and reprint jobs that have already been printed.
In order to install the HP-GL/2 Upgrade, follow the instructions that come with the kit.
To check whether your printer already has the HP-GL/2 Upgrade, go to the printer's front panel and
press the Menu key once or twice until you see the main menu icons. If there are eight icons, you have
the HP-GL/2 Upgrade; if there are seven, you do not have it. The HP-GL/2 Upgrade adds the Job Queue
menu icon [/span]

Thanks first of all. Now I installed the driver. I only have one problem left. I can't calibrate or profile the printer. These features are missing in the HP Easy Care Center. Any ideas why or how I can get them back ?

thanks again.

Unfortunately no.
(a part from silly suggestions like:
have you carefully followed the instructions? like "...do not connect the USB cable until the inst..."
unistall everything and start anew accurately following the HP instructions...)

In case nobody will show up here with some quick and useful advise I would suggest you to contact HP support.
You have really a rich set of choices: live on-line chat, phone and e-mail ---> [a href=\"http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/contact_us.html]Contact HP

P.S. if you are not in USA, from the above link (top left) you can access
