I feel a lot is left desired in the execution of the picture, and as I said it is work in progress. Can I ask you soemthing?

Assuming I can get that executed better, would you think this to be a candidate for a personal fine arts Portfolio with the goal to show it to some galleries, or is this may be just my wishful thinking, like the goldfinch regretting not to be an eagle? <smiles>

In my eyes the photo has a rich combination of texture, drama, color, and above all the light.

I would definitely add it to my portfolio. I just wish I had taken it.

Well yes, LB, I would include in a portfolio.

If it were mine, I would also be tempted to take the history brush and "screen" and "multiply" to paint over the highlights and the shadows in order to add a little depth to the foreground.

But it's not mine, and I do like your photo just as it is.

@Kate, thank you very much for your suggestions to make this photo better, much valued in deed, I am not too sure whether I understand your suggestion as I am new to all this, but I sure will consult the PS manual and try.

I may just have found the first shot for my portfolio then.  

The "Gweebara" is a little river in County Donegal, with a lot of history I might add, that streams into the atlantic ocean. I tried the use of a ND filter the first time, and while I had a hard time "seeing" the picture as it darkened the viewfinder considerably, I was happy about aspects of color in this humble attempt.

I also think it needs considerably more work, but as a starter I like the feeling that comes with it. May be another one for the portfolio?

 , I consider to call it "global warming" and I was pleased about the way the colours worked out and the reflection of the airplane may help that minimalist attempt to be a little thought provoking with a title like that. I also feel this might do well in a portfolio. Again, more work needed of course.

Very kewl!   <chuckles> I had no idea. I always used level & curve adjustment layers and then changed the mode and opacity. this painting over parts will come in very handy with the intuos.

I also ordered a crazy amount of books today dealing with photography, photoshop and fine art printing.

But this way of getting information in form of a handy quicktime movie is very convinient to say the least.

While working on that portfolio material, I went through a couple of handheld shots that were somewhat challenging to me and I came across this particular one here:



The constant flow of the river Gweebara and the tidal forces of the Atlantic work their way through the rock over centuries and leave sometimes the most astonishing sculptures one only can find wading through the riverbanks when the tide is low.
