Novice in New Mexico

I have decided I am old enough to take a few hits, (as a former ER nurse it has gone so far as threats of death) so I would like some opinions from people more competent than I. I would appreciate some critique of my compositions as well my efforts to create B&W and sepia renditions of color photos. I have a 10D with a couple of L lenses, shoot in RAW format, usually with a tripod, and use PS2 to edit. Large images are available, and accessed by clicking on the thumbnails

I personnally prefer the B&W versions of the 3 first shots over their color and sepia brothers.

Thanks for your input.  I will have a go at printing them in 16x20 and see how they look.  I was afraid that that the photos might be so insufferably boring that nobody had an opinion beyond that.

Hi There:

I agree with Bernard that the B&W images are the best of what you show there.  Since desert landscapes seem to be your interest, I'd suggest you look up the work of other photographers doing similar work - Alain Briot for example - and look at how they make the images they do.  Every photographer has their own vision, but looking at the works of others can help you develop yours.  A recent article by Michael put this much better than I have...

Thank you.  I will follow your suggestions.  Since I live in a desert, it would help if I understood how best to shoot it.  I tend to enjoy B&W since I played around with it in early 70's, with a Leica IIIc.  I have played with burning my B&W images, however it always feels strange to me.  Color frustrates me, I keep looking at what I have done and wonder if it looks like a bad calendar.

Looking at the great work displayed by the contributors on LL makes me envious of their skills, and realize how far I need to go.
