Las Vegas shooting - tips anyone?

I'm going to Las Vegas in early September and would like to know if anyone has experience shooting there?

Specifically, I aim to do hotel and resort stuff as well as golf courses. Any special places and times of day for those places that can be recommended? Thanks.

In my opinion, Las Vegas looks much better at night than during the day, with all the spectacular lighting.  I'd suggest bringing a tripod and working on your nighttime shooting technique before you go (if you're not already well-practiced at nighttime photography).

Night time is to be preferred, especially this time of year as the temps in daytime can exceed 115F.  Of course, shooting in daytime can be done if you pop in and out of the hotels/casinos.  Do know that you can usually bring even a pro DSLR into a casino but don't be shooting pictures of people in the place or action at the tables and most deffinately not the security/money folks.

Numerous street shots of the buildings from street level and from the walkways over the street


My best guess is that you will likely see someone that looks, or tries to look, like Elvis and more than likely one or more of the pretty girls won't be -- a girl.


Of course if you do venture away from LV there is the Valley of Fire about 65 miles east and Hoover Dam about 30 miles south.

I would recommend, 'The old town' which is one mile or so north - at first light.
there is a pedestrian street there, that should be a required shoot-but again at first light-not only for the light, but it is quiet, so one can  concerntrate on the 'image'

I think you mean the Treasure Island hotel. (Unless they've renamed it to garner a movie tie-in.)
