ZD back and Lightroom tethered

I was in FotoCare in NYC yesterday when they had a limited (no shooting) ZD back presentation. I have been told that in 60 days Lightroom will support ZD back for tethered shooting! Also, I had a chance to see through the new 28mm and 75-150mm lenses. What my eye could see was very-very sharp:) Focusing with 28mm lens is instanteneous. Fotocare promissed ZD back in 30 days or so.

If that is true they are going to sell a lot of ZD backs. I have LR & that will work on my ZD camera.It does make sense since RD is developing a tethered program for Leaf. Bibble has already done it for Canon & some others. Good to see 3rd party programs helping the industry.

Did you have any chance comparing ZD files development in Lightroom vs SilkyPix 3.0? So far I use only SilkyPix. I like the ability to max demosaicing sharpness in SilkyPix - takes longer to process, but gives much crisper files than ACR 3.7.

No I use RD for the ZD & now have LR. I will compare them, I did use SilkyPix last year & felt RD was better.

Silkypix has a huge advantage when converting ZD images of 1 sec and longer reducing visible noise which lightroom has trouble Silkypix is great but slow to convert.  If lightroom allows tethered shooting I will definitely use this option for shorter exposure images.

Joel what was the longest exposure you did with the ZD and how does the file looked.

Yes I have shot up to 15sec but do not like shooting over 8sec due to noise issues. This is my biggest problem with the camera. I am not happy with the quality of exposures at 15sec or more so I try to keep exposures as short as possible. Exposures at iso 100 at this length of time is even worse than iso 64 that I am shooting.

Hi tethered will work with lightroom, run the mamiya software and after that run lightroom with a hotfolder.

Has anyone heard when the ZD back will be available in the US? I emailed Mamiya today and was told 30 - 60 days which I thought is what they said over a month ago.

Any ideas?
