LLVJ16 - California Location Question

I found the California segment of Video Journal #16 particularly interesting since I used to
go to college about 60 miles (or 100km) to the south and I've often travelled through that
area passing through Prairie Creek and Jedediah Smith Parks.
 
I'm somewhat curious as to the location of the small bay where Michael stopped on his
way back to the Bay Area and where he almost sacrificed his camera to the surf gods.
Was it by any chance near Big Lagoon State Park or was it further down the coast?
