E 2400 size & position sensors

My problem is that with my 2400, the front path readily accepts a 13 x 19 sheet of matte paper, a 2-ply mat board and or even a 13 x 19 sheet of mylar. However, when I use them as a carrier sheet for, say a 12 x 17 piece of watercolor paper with deckled edges, it rejects it. No problem with the height, just does that sensor checking and rejects it.
Is there a way to disable the size and position sensor? I understand with the 3800 there is a item on its control menu to turn the sensor on or off but no such control for the 2400. Alternatively, I could let more of the margin of the carrier show, but how far in does the sensor go to establish a minimum margin?
