Questions About Polarizers

I tried to combine a circular polarizer with a linear. I noticed a heavy shift towards pruple-lilac at almost full polarization (very dark), so I imagine this color shift will be visible on film or digital as well. However, if the degree of polarisation is decreased the lilac tone disappears. BW film is probably most suited at the extreme end. (Hoya polarizers)

Im not sure about your cameras but both linear and circualar works fine with the AF on my Eos50.

I was wondering if using 2 Polarizers together ontop of eachother would drastically  affect image quality. Im thinking I could use them as A Neutral Density type filter allowing slower shutterspeeds during brighter days.

Also, is there any way of finding out if you have Circular Polarizers or not?

Can I use a non circular polarizer using the TTL camera meter (on a Canon AE-1 or T-90) (the T-90 manual says not to use polarizers for some reason), but from what Ive heard theres only problems with autofocus cameras, and these cameras are manual focus.
I just hope the light meter doesn't get confused by the polarizers somehow.

Strange, linear is not supposed to work well with autofocus

I'll probably just make some pics and see how they turn out.
Purple is cool looking anyway  :p  (well maybe not for portraits)
