Your camera didn't have quite enough dynamic range to handle the lighting in this shot. The top right corner looks washed out, but stopping down would have blocked up low values in the foreground. This scene would have been an ideal candidate for experimenting with HDR to compensate.
Compositionally, you're on the right track, but it needs something more interesting in the foreground than clumps of grass.
