Another Batch Processing Question

OK, I have yet another question about batch processing.
Whenever I do a Copy and Paste of NEF settings, the big window comes up, the one that asks me about destination folder, file rename, that sort of thing. Right here I'm stumped about how to get it to remember that I want the new NEFs to be Lossless Compressed. It always defaults to plain old Compressed. Am I missing something?
I realize this is just one button to click, but it's another of so many in the sequence.
So I stumble back to the larger question, again. If Capture NX editing is non-destructive and consists only of rewriting "instructions", then why why why does the program need so much time to apply the changes?
I like the program for its picture quality and the automatic Aberration Correction, but I just don't get why it's so much slower than Adobe Camera Raw at redrawing previews.

Off topic, but here's another Michael Bailey (Mike Bailey) in Wisconsin, U.S., though the similarity probably ends there since I'm Canon-based. Another full-time photographer I've crossed paths with named Michael Bailey hails from North Caroliina, U.S. We're a small legion I guess.

Hi Mike,
Nice to meet you. I have heard rumor of a North Carolina Mike Bailey, but nothing more than a rumor, which is odd since I'm in neighboring Virginia.
Bye,
