1250iso and 1DsmkIII

I have just come back from an early morning shoot with the 1DsmkIII, I was using 1250 iso and wide open. This is one very decent camera, I am very pleased (and relieved) at the results. I don't know how much better a D3 would of been, then again you only get those puny little files out of it  
Now off to get some sleep.

This shot was taken at ISO 1600 under a street lamp in San Francisco--no other light. Something like 1/20 at f2.8 hand held. I could not believe it. The trick with the 1DS3 is to expose the the right, and make sure you ETTR. If you under expose, the noise gets bad. ETTR, and you get nice prints. Amazing.

Could not agree more.  The majority of these were taken between 1000 and 1600.

Here is one from this morning. A crop also from the image, all converted in Aperture, no noise reduction applied other than Apertures default + some edge sharpening.
This was not the job, but Terminal 5 at Heathrow looked good so I took a few, thinking BAA's picture library might be interested, but no they didn't even want to look. Alamy here it comes then.
iso 1250  f9 1/640th 17-40mm @ 22mm.
Yes you can see noise in places but nothing to get excited about.

Very nice shot. I use iso 1250 all the time, but my files have significantly less noise, not that there is a hideous amount in your picture. But then again I'm mostly shooting at f/2.8-f/5.6 when I go up to 1250.

Including iso 1600 shots.
