Changing light in my room

I have trouble that as I dont have controlled lighting in my room. My monitor is out off the sun light in my room. But I recalibrate my monitor as the day go. Which is both a time waster and not so fun.

As 8-12 I get one type off light. At 12 to 17.00 I got one light. Also at the evening.

As I dont wont to black out the room. . I had hope by placing my monitor out off the sun would help. It is a big room about 15 meters deep. But I still get diffrence in the ambience light.

Is there some other tricks to make your monitor not to catch so much ambience light?

As now I usually do most my work at the evenings as I dont have changing ambience light..

Ps Also big thanks for the colour forum, hopefully I dont have to jump around to learn about colourmanagement. It seems it was spread around before

Does your monitor have a hood? If not, you can easily make your own with some cardboard, adhesive-backed Velcro, and a can of matte-finish black paint.

I googled hood. Thanks I didnt thought about such easy solution. I used to have a hood on my old CRT screens.

I will check out see how this works. Probaly will do. Remmembered that didnt react to this in the old CRT days.

Can report that hood solved my problem with changing light.

or do what I do. I only do serious work in photoshop and lightroom on photos in dark room, with very dim, indirect light if any light at all.  

It also helps me extend the working life on my CRT because i only drive it at 95-100 cd/m^2.  If the room was brigher i'd have to set it to be brighter with a higher measured luminance value, which shortens the life of the CRT as a color accurate, profileable monitor.
