How did Epson resolve the problem..Was it just a Bad chiped cart?

If you're asking me, Epson sent a tech who brought a full set of cartridges and figured out the "bit of air in the cartridge" and came up with field solution to bleed the cartridge on the fly. It worked on all my previously "bad" cartridges.
Before the tech arrived, they suspected it might be a bad chip or dirty contact.
