ColorThink Pro reliability

I am thinking of buying ColorThink Pro and have been hunting the net for reviews. I have found more info about bugs with it than anything else, but they are all a year or so old. Can I assume that it is now stable, or have people stopped griping and gone elsewhere?

Did you check "colorforums" too?
As far as I know it's running. A designer I know has the pro version and as far as I know he uses it in daily business (he's a lithographer; postproduction and printing pro). Maybe I will ask him within the next days.
Me I have the standard version and it's running as well. Beside some annoying details as in profile comparisions the whitepoints are not set to the same whitepoint and it's impossible to change the rendering intend therefor. Funny. But that's not a bug... it's a feature. Next update should contain switchable rendering intend for profile comparisions even in the standard version.

Thanks. I did look at the Color forums. It was pretty quiet. With a background in software development, I understand the 'if you can't fix it, make it a feature' concept well.

ColorThink is like that toy screwdriver set which you got for $2 which actually lets you fix just about all the electronics in your house. The serious tools are in the workshop, but it's the toy set which actually gets all the small stuff done.

The bugs are the least problem with Colorshop; the real problem is it can do just about everything except create or edit a profile, but you can only learn to do all those crazy things by watching Steve Upton do a demo.

There are a few other specialised utilities which are well worth their price if you need them, among which Danny Pascale's Babelcolor and PatchTool.

at least you can edit profile tags. Capture One for example crashes when you set certain ICC profiles in V4 spec. as working space. When you edit the tags with Color Think they work. Too, it's sometimes a very good addition to the color warning in Photoshop.  But of course there are other tools ...
