Hi,
I need a bit of advice.I have been asked to do the odd presentation of my work at various camera clubs,so I have decided to go down the projection route.I have a budget of around £300 to buy a projector........any recomendations from anyone?

For that price, you'll have to turn the lights way down, and sit really close.

Actually, I looked through the many projectors stocked by J&R in New York, and there were some good choices. Slightly more money than you suggested, but it would be a good starting point to compare brands. JR.COM

Look at some of the projectors at Tiger Direct. A Benq MP 622c xga projector 2200 lumens for $649 CAD. That is less than your budget.
These are not bad projectors and will defiinately provide more than enough light for a photo club presentation. I have used a 6200 series projector with good results with fairly large groups.

Andy, quite a few of the clubs in North Wales have their own digital projectors. Might be worth checking out before buying your own.
