I have done a good bit of reading about CF cards and I have never seen one word about problems with magnets. But one thing that may cause you problems is vibration. If you carry the camera in the fuel tank case it will get shaken up a lot. A back pack might be a better choice.[/font]

[font color=\'#000000\']My 10D manual warns against subjecting the camera to strong magnetic fields, eg electric generators/motors. I was wondering about permanent magnets. I have a motorcycle fuel tank case held on by six large magnets in side flaps about 6 inches from the luggage compartment. I use CF cards rather than microdrive, so I was wondering about what is an acceptable level of magnetic field and what parts of the camera or lens could be adversely affected. I tried the camera for size briefly with no apparent ill effects.

[font color=\'#000000\']I have done a considerable amount of photography in primary electrical generation facilities and very high voltage, etc.  No problems.  That is with CF and microdrives, and the Canon D60, 1Ds, 10D, and now Mark II.  I'm not sure what the issue is but would love to know.[/font]
