I'm looking at a new laptop this year. The Nikon website says Nikon Scan ( I have LS50) is not compatible with 10.5.2 and they do not intend to update driver! Does Vuescan, Silverfast overcome this problem? I also have a Canon 9950F but Canon seem to have updated these drivers, even though not a current scanner
Nigel,
I have a Nikon LS-4000 scanner and Nikon Scan mostly works on my G5 Mac. But I never got it to work correctly on my MacBook. I'm running Mac OS X 10.5.5. Some friends claim that Nikon Scan works perfectly on Intel-powered Macs, but I haven't seen it with my own eyes.
Anyway, VueScan works well for me but I'm only using basic settings. I'm not a heavy user. VueScan is available as a trial version so you might try to see if it works for you. Your LS50 is listed as supported (
