Hi Folks: The latest e-newsletter from Hasselblad has announced the competition for the 2009 Hasselblad Masters. This year there's a category for working pros who use any medium or large format camera - not just Hasselblad. If you're looking for more information, etc. try here: 2009 Hasselblad MastersThe closing date for submissions is April 1st 2009. Mike.

There's also an up and coming category which is open to any format. I entered last year and I will again this year. If I remember correctly the deadline for submissions under the 'Up & coming' category closed on Dec 21st, 2008. Unless the extension also includes this section. Can someone verify this

"Images may be considered for multiple categories. Entrants in the “Up and Coming” category are not eligible for any other category. Entries must be uploaded by 5 p.m. Central European Time on January 1, 2009."
from when you register to the Up and coming category on the link above.

I can highly recommend entering the Hasselblad Masters Award. It is a brilliant idea, for both Hasselblad and the entrants. I works as a good marketing tool, connects you to other photographers around the world and gives a great project to work on- not to mention getting to work with fantastic equipment. The book that was produced was of excellent quality, the print quality was outstanding and I really liked the book design. I think Hasselblad made the right choice in "hooking up" with a well know publisher.
Good luck to those that enter

Bronek I thought the closing date was today for all categories, perhaps I ought to read the rules again. Kevin

Does anyone know if the Hasselblad Masters closes April 1st at Midnight or sometime before? I'm assuming it's midnight Europe.
Thanks, Weldon

Yes any non pro can enter under the, 'up and coming' category. If I remember correctly it was also open to any pro with under 5 years experience or something along those lines.

I have read that even for "Up and coming" you must be a professional for at least 1 year experience, if someone is not professional at all, then he is not eligible? i can't read where it is written that "Up&Coming" is opened for all, pro and non pro.
We saw the results anyway, and as i expected, all are professionals, non is non pro, dunno if one of them is semi-pro.
