Remember the level indicators are not always right. I have seen them go both ways, print longer then the indicated level but also shorter with an ink out.
Strange though as visually you should see there is a problem in inking, The patches as you know go from full density to about half way then reverse and come back to the print edge to the lightest tint.
Are you not mistaking the matte k media type?
IF it is the inks make sure it looks like all inks are printing out a graduate in both directions.
On matte papers is the only difference in the calibration where a matte black is included, yet not on photo media.
The printed patches look to be similar to the other calibration done earlier.
