The DO is MUCH easier to fold if instead of pressing the ribs down at the knurled lock knobs to disengage them, you press down 1-2 inches out from the knurled lock knob on the rib itself. Takes about 30 secs to fold one.

Thanks Conner and Frank.  I'll try it again.  I had an Annie L moment with it on location.  An assistant couldn't get it open without the ribs twisting into a swirl pattern, I gave it a shot and threw it into a dumpster.  My assistant retrieved it and we all laughed.  Ever since it sits in a gear closet.  I'd rather use the Mola Seti or budget permiting the most excellent and vastly superior Briese 77.  I wish the Deep Octa had a similar mechanism to the big octa, which I find to be really easy to open and close.  

And Frank, I bought it at US introduction over a year ago.  I'm not sure if there is another version.

Since you are pugged into Elinchrom, so to speak, and seem to have version two of the DT Octa, could you maybe ask what they did in the redesign?  Could you take a snap of the mechanism on your version 2 DT Octa?  I might ask Bogen here in the US to switch me out, because my version 1 is really unusable.

The main problem with v1 which I also used was that the inlay would come loose.
In v2 they reinforced the stitches and the center part.
I still use the skeleton of v1 which is the same.

The large octa is best folded on the stand. The DO from the floor.
