I am a camera raw mac user and in photo shop I'm having some trouble... I used to be able to create a layer mask and invert and use the brush tool to "paint" in adjustments to my pictures but for some reason I am not able to now... Anyone have any suggestions... PLEASE as I shot my first wedding recently and have to meet with the client tomorrow and show them what can be done to the pictures and would love to show them that...

What isn't working for you?  Trouble inverting?  Brushes not working on masks?  Not seeing the mask itself?  You are selecting the mask icon next to the layer icon in the layers palette, right?
