Aside from the frame rate debate, I'm pretty jealous of Sony A900 shooters who can now use their lens collection on a respectable video camera. It would be great to have something similar for my Nikon glass! I wrote a bit of praise for the new "Sony Plan" on my blog a couple days ago.... I think it's a smarter move than the compromised ergonomics of shooting video on a Canon 5DII or Nikon D3S (which, as Chris mentioned, need $10,000 in bolt-ons!) The real investment of any system is in a bag of lenses, right? How cool to get double use from them with two respectable bodies, one still and one video... Go Sony!

It is true that Sony seems to have a sort of consistent politics on the long term. They look they are just doing marketing fun but they surprise.
In the end Canon is doing a one-camera-for-all, Sony is doing a specialised gear for one task within the same system. Not bad also.
The A900 is probably a great camera if not pushed in higher isos, I'm surprised that you do not see it very much in fashion plateaux for example where Canon is the most used brand by far.
Maybe because the pro are conservatives and already invested in Canon for ages.
I never tryed a A900 but there is a unique voice among it's users that it is a great photographic tool very well priced.
Sony is extremely well distributed in Spain but they sell little high-end gear but mostly consumer products. Their brand name is not associated with pro photographers and I guess it is difficult
for Sony to change that image.
Knowing that Mr Reichmann has a P65 as an image quality standard and his passion for great tools, wich is very different from the passion for my-gear-is-better-than-yours could not resist to mention that, his support on the A900-850
tells a lot about that camera capability.
And if like me you like working with vintage manual primes, ebay+Minolta or Zeiss would do the job.
but in an ideal world, dream-on Fred, I think that the best way still is the cooperation between a photographer and a videographer, exactly like Michael and Chris.
Now, for the photographer that does incurtions on video as a peripherical way of expression, Chris suggestion about the Canon seems to be the thing to do, even unperfect.
Then feed Zacuto's bank account so they can keep going doing those millionaire gear testings.
