Thanks for the FANTASTIC review Mike!
This Sony AVCHD 1080/60i marketing mess is very confusing -- very thankful you took the time & effort to get to the bottom of things!
I've been looking to buy a little Sony camcorder
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/707153-REG/Sony_HXR_MC50U_HXR_MC50U_Ultra_Compact_Pro.html for a while now and no matter who I ask, they all say its shooting two 30i interlaced frames (1080/60i). So these Sony's are actually shooting 30p and wrapping them 60i then???
I have a shout out to B&H, linking to your article -- we'll see what they have to say.
UPDATE:
B&H got back with me this morning the Sony HXR MC50U is shooting:
Video Resolution : 1920 x 1080 captured @ 30p (29.97p), recorded in AVCHD 60i (59.95i)http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progressive_segmented_frameThanks,
Chris (confused stills guy)
