Is Epson going to offer an up date to the 11880 this fall, or is this going to be it for awhile?

Jeff,
The 110ml starter carts that come with the 44" 9900 will fill the lines and give you a month or two of printing at best. You can only buy replacement 150,350 or 700ml carts. The only 150's I would get would be orange and green.

I recently purchased a 7900 and have a strong feeling that the "HDR" inkset is in fact the same inks as the UltraChrome K3 just renamed because of the addition of the green and orange.
It's K3 with Vivid Magenta (the updated K3 inkset) plus Orange and Green. It has a wider gamut through both the O and G inks and an improved LUT. |

On DPRs printing forum some people had been questioning the "reliability" of the new inkset and I was pretty sure it was in fact the same with the O and G added.

You talking about the thread YOU started on DPR? You KNOW, nothing written on DPR has much relevance in the real world, right? Exactly what suspicion of your has been confirmed? The fact that the new 7890/9890 is using K3 Vivid inkset and using the new thin film piezo head with the higher speed and 360 nozzles/inch and the new advanced dither? BTW, are you the same guy trying to figure out how to print our of Coral Paint to your 7900 printer with Epson EFP? Hum... |

the 11880 only has one 9 channel TFP head, the 10k printer also had one head with 3x2@180 nozzles.

The 4900, 7890, and 9890 have now been announced by Epson USA and are their website - haven't seen pricing yet but assuming it's coming soon.

The 4900 list price is the same as the 4880. This is MSRP, so street prices will see discounts, and Epson will continue to offer frequent rebate programs. So all that's changed is you get a much improved printer for about the same price, probably more in the range of slightly under $2k. They'll sell just fine. |

The 10000/10600 has an assembly of 3 heads with 2 channels each. The same heads are used in groups of 4 for Rolands etc, so modular. Let's say a single head has to have a continuous flat area of the same material the nozzle holes are created in. Actually I'm not even interested in what arrangement of heads are used, it is about the nozzle quantity per square inch and the price per nozzle. Yes Master, that would be me.  I'm new, and learning! My first baby steps have been to come here,dump Corel and buy CS5... I learn fast  For printing you could skip CS5 and get one of the Qimage versions. Why is it that the pressurized heads of the 10k never clogged, when nearly a decade later all the rest of the piezo heads do. That continues to perplex me.
