Go to la  jolla is only like 10 minutes from the city...Maybe lisa will say is 2 hours...But hear is how to go there.....
La Jolla Coast (TG1227:E7) Going north on I-5, take Ardath Road west into La Jolla. It becomes Torrey Pines Road. At Prospect, turn right and keep bearing right to Coast Blvd. Head south on Coast Blvd. When Coast Blvd. becomes a one-way street, look for parking.

Going south on I-5, take La Jolla Village Drive to Torrey Pines Road. Turn left and continue

framah, free is cheaper than Fillipi's.  Motels on Motel Circle off I-8 may be cheaper than $150, but you could get a great sunset over the water from the balcony.  I think $150 a night in SD may not be all that much in spring.

I visted my sister in Jonesboro, Maine one July.  Colder than San Francisco in winter, but the fried clam strips at Tall Barnie's are hard to beat.  The strawberry pie in Machais was grand.  We roasted a pig for the 4th of July, a story in itself about getting the little piggy home, but he was very good.  I got some killer lobsters at the dock in Jonesport, right off the boat, at a 1/10th of Boston prices.
