Moving users-directory or \Cache directory from C:

Colleagues,

I am a happy Windows user. For some time now with an Intel i7, 12 GB RAM, 5 TB on 3 drives plus a Intel Solid State drive (my C: system disk), on Win7/64.

I try to keep my SS C: drive as clean and lean as possible, it is only 80 GB. However, in a couple of month it grew with 17 GB. It turns out that it is the C:\ users\(...)\Adobe\CameraRaw\Cache\   directory with many Cache0000012345.dat files, all 5.11 MB each. They are made by Lightroom, in spite of the name.

What I would prefer, is to put the USERS directory to another drive, but that seems to be not an easy operation.
Second best is to get the (...)\Cache directory elsewhere. I read on the Internet that MKLINK /D (a DOS command) can be used for that, but I am not sure about the right syntax.

Does any of you has a suggestion how to handle this? Are there more or better ways to get C: to the bare minimum – the operating system?

Open lightroom.  Edit, Preferences, File Handling.  Select a new directory for your RAW cache.  Done.

You're right! Thank you! How easy it is to forget the most basic things from day one.

Maybe I do something wrong too with my selection problem on Import. Do you know how to get a SUB-selection within the (pre)selected pictures in the LR3 Import module? I was surprised that I could not shift-click on one or more rows, to prevent them from importing by deselecting them. (Also my suggestion for LR 4). The idea is, to import them later with another set of keywords. Now I can only do that by deselecting them one by one.

You can only select or de-select via the check all or none buttons, and using the checkboxes in each image corner.  One by one.

I never bother with weeding out imports, I simply delete things after import, it's much easier to select things then rather than the limited import screen.
