Seamus, The composition is excellent. A bit of softness, probably caused by the vibration of the aircraft, but all in all, very good. Seems to me this is the first thing I've seen from you in color.

Thanks Russ - good to be back. If not the first then this is one of the very few in colour. Just to clarify, the shot was taken on solid ground in the hills around Ubud-apart from anything else, I forgot to sharpen it before posting.  Anyway, glad you like it.

When I looked at it the softness didn't registrar with me. I think my brain thought that this was the way it was meant to be. If the sharpened version "looks" better, then fine. I liked it as it was and judged it to be very likeable and not the usual type of image seen here.

This is a sharpened version, It may be that the grass was waving in the wind on that day, hence the softness, I used a Canon 70-200 L at 200,  f8, 125th sec. Maybe a bit of camera shake there too, although I thought the Image Stabiliser would have taken care of that.

I don't know if anybody else is exeriencing this problem but I cannot preview images before posting. When I click on 'preview', all I can see is the text - no image. Does anybody have the solution?

This version works very well for me. In the first version you posted, my eye went immediately to the figure near the upper right, and he appeared soft as well as the grasses. In the new version the figure is sharp, so I can accept that any sense of softness in the grasses feels natural. The sharp figure provides a kind of "key" to verify that the photo is as intended. I like it a lot!

As for previewing images, I have no solution except to post and then edit as needed. I believe on an edit you can attach a revised version to replace the original image.

I bet this image looks good in a print. Thanks for posting a sharper version.

I think the sharpness now overwhelms the figure, possibly because it is so small. I don't think you can sharpen the figure on it's own because of the size. Remember the figure is far away and you really can't expect it to be sharp and that goes for the grass as well. The original looks best to me.
