Putting a magnificent creature such as that on display in a small roadside cage is horrid. Whoever the owner, they should be arrested, put on trial and hopefully spend some years in a very small jail cell for cruelty.

Could be worse. Looks as if there's always an arm or two around to snack on.

I agree, Justan, but things are improving. When I was a teenager driving down US 27 in Florida, there was one of these wretched zoos every couple miles. Evidently some new laws have put an end to that.

Cruelty issues aside, I really don't understand what this is supposed to signify.  How do we know this guy came to see the cat everyday?  What significance is to be drawn from the fact that he was able to pat an obviously lethargic, probably poorly cared for, likely weakened, caged animal?  I'm afraid I don't get it.
