Holly,
the best thing to do IMHO is to print a 4.5 x 4.5 contact sheet w/ frames going five up and five across. Any more would just jumble the eye. You could possibly also enclose a printed sheet of the file names.

Are you working in CS with Contact Sheet II?

If things are coming out too pixelated then try increasing the dpi to at least 150dpi vs the default 72dpi.

I did a search on Contact Sheets and found one post topic about using PhotoShop to make Contact Sheets however the majority of the replies advised to look at the Breezebrowser software to use instead of PS.

I would like to stay with PhotoShop and learn to utilize it.

I have found how to make a Contact Sheet but can't figure out something.

1) I want to put about 20 pictures per Contact Sheet with the file names under each picture. I've tried making a Contact Sheet size of 8x10, which I can print on regular paper just fine but I would like to make an actual 4x6 print. Everytime I change the settings to 4x6, the file names are pixilated and difficult to read. Am I asking too much?

Is there anyone who uses PS's Contact Sheet ability regularly? How do you use it? How many pictures per page do you normally set it for? What size do you generally make it?

I've thought of just keeping it 8x10 and printing the Contact Sheet and keeping them in a book with the main file names written on them. Yet when I create a CD with pictures on it for family and friends, I'd like to give them a 4x6 print of what's on the CD with file names under the pictures. Suggestions?

I use CS's Contact Sheet II.  My standard setup is to have 4 across and five down on letter-size paper, with file names printed under the images, and they are perfectly readable.  I haven't tried any denser packing than that, though.

I use CS2's contact sheet II and on glossy media 4 in x 6 in can print 20 images 4 colums x 5 rows, setting the font to times new roman and 10 point with the resolution set to 180 pixals per inch, the images and text comes out without pixalisation.
