When a Photographic image is also a Painting

After posting this in another thread, I thought it should also have its own place for reflection and comment.


This took me by surprise. I am totally fascinated by this woman's work. I love the creativity and uniqueness. If I were 25 and urban I would be inspired in this direction.

Maybe if you post a link I'll have a better idea of what she does; for my part (and if I have understood the concept), I do it the other way round, on occasion: I make a flat painting in a normal manner and then photograph it, destroying the original paintwork when that's been done. The purpose? To save physical space and to allow further playing about with the thing in PS and some means of showing it around the place more readily than if it were on a solid support.

There were some interesting pictures of Verushka doing the rounds some longish while ago - body-painting of her in some woods, where she merges into the trees... ain't nuttin' noo under the sun. Yes, she was quite 3D as well, in a not too exaggerated way.

Rob, your method sounds very interesting and creative as well. I can visualize your idea...very cool.
