I read the report... as some of the writers have indicated, it's all the fault of those who submit under the rules. Yes, it takes balls to fight, but it takes no balls at all to be killed off by your own stupidity; it just takes your stupědity.
I see little point in joining any other outlet that works on the dollar-a-shot sort of principle; you might, as someone suggested, hang that sign around your neck and stand at the street corner.
There was a time when a lot of stock material was available as 'extras' from commissioned work; with that sort of business apparently on the wane, the logistics of self-floating decent shoots vis ŕ vis the likely returns doesn't smack of great business. As was indicated in one of the replies on the link, it's about business, not feeding your dumb ego!
And to think that Tony Stone used to be such a bloody good agency!
Perhaps stock is the new film.
