Poss should have posted this elsewhere...its not really landscape is it....so used to posting in landscape as rarely shoot anything else.....mods please move if deemed appropriate

Don't know if you have read the thread on what comprises a landscape but IMO you are well within bounds - glad you posted it here. It is a very nice shot.

Thanks Francois..yes i think they do add certain dynamic to the image rather than two static engines...ive started leaving people in my landscapes of late as well i always previously to clone them out. Oh damn I would love to have that on my wall!

No HDR...Dynamic range extended from a single RAW file, contrast grading/channel mixing essentially, chuffed with this one its the first time ive shot trains...i was out for landscapes!!

Steam is just a great topic for black and white, and so many times we go out to shoot landscape and end up doing something eles, it took me so many years before I could control myself, now i take exclusively landscape but so many times would go out thinking will shoot ocean today and bring home photos of trees only.
That is what I love about photography, unpredictable never boring and surprising.

I think i will always strive to keep an element of unpredictability in my method/work, sure sometimes it doesn't work out, but as in this case it can often through up something different /interesting. Re the processing i worked off a single file making several exposure alterations before manually blending them, i prefer this technique to bracketing shots, more control. Iam not a real fan of HDR as such, no shadows and detail in everything doesn't look right to me? i guess as always its a personal/subjective thing...i may tinker with it one day?? |
