In C2PS_20_CM-LR-Export (Lightroom Export) Michael and Jeff export images to TIFF-files. They do not use Compression at all. The compression is mentioned by Michael, but not discussed.

OK, there is nothing wrong in that. But using LZW-compression you save a lot of disk space and the image quality is not affected at all. Maybe they have mixed jpeg and lzw compressions.

For example with Canon 5DM2 you get 60MB tiff files without compression. And with LZW-compression you get around 30MB.

You do save a lot of space but it is not a totally free lunch in that it takes longer to open and save that data. If you have a very fast machine and drive, it may be moot. But the point is, there is a speed hit.

Are you using 8 bit? LZW compression sucks on 16 bit images where the compression sometimes makes for bigger files than uncompressed. I do use Zip compression, which is better at compressing 16 bit, for any files I'll be moving around or sending to somebody. But no, I do not routinely compress my files...

You are right of course. I dont know how much extra time it takes to write/read the compressed tiff file. I havent had any issues on the extra time, though. I suspect it is insignificant compared to the savings.

It is not about what you or I use. I tried to make a point and discuss about the Compression with tiff's. Of course you cannot go into detail in everything in your video, it is over 12 hours already...
