Another image from my trip to Lone Pine. Made with a 125mm lens on an APS-C sensor. The older granite foreground rocks are a few hundred yards away whereas the peak of Mt. Whitney is many miles away. This was a chance find after wandering up a dirt road until I came to a Do Not Enter sign.

Was this off of Horseshoe Meadows Road or Olivas Ranch Road?  The angle seems right

I think I was driving south on Tuttle Creek Road and came across a dirt road named Indian Cemetery. Took a left at a fork and scrambled up the scree at the dead end to find this view.

Well, is that apparent compression of distance something you're trying to say something about in this photo? If it is then I think there's a problem because the viewer can't tell that the peak is so much further away than it seems to be.

Perhaps, as you've said before, it's only a photo :-)

I don't learn much from the problems in photos I take on road-trips.

I learn much more from the problems in photos I take in the neighbourhood - because I can go back the next day and take a photo without that problem (which usually makes some other problem pop-out, rinse and repeat.)

Ah, OK, that makes sense now.  I've thought about taking the Jeep up that road for some time now, and now I think I'll do it.
