will the older Mamiya Leaf Shutter lenses, made for the M645 I guess, work on the 645DF? Curious, thanks

Nope, I guess they might work as a regular MF lens, but the leaf shutter function does not work.

Agreed, I also wish they would have kept the mechanical coupling in the AF bodies so I could use my MF lenses without stopping down manually. I much prefer the feel of the old lenses and manual focusing over autofocus.

I'm actually planning on doing an in-depth review comparing the manual focus M645 lenses etc and the AF lenses in a video and in depth review. I have been using my new 300mm 2.8 APO and it does work very well, the manual aperture control is is nice, its not too inconvenient when I have the 2X TC but I find it a bit annoying when using without the TC since you sort of have to stop and move so you can see it because its sortof blocked by the body of the 645DF because it sort of curves over at the top.

I do like the focus confirmation a lot, it works decently with manual focus.

Stopping down manually is not a problem if you're shooting something static like landscapes, but for more dynamic stuff like fashion for example it's a pain. You either have to shoot at a large aperture or live with a very dim viewfinder, it's doable but hardly optimal.

Indeed, since the 300 is so amazing @ 2.8 thats where I wind up using it most of the time, I mean anything too stopped down and then I gotta ask myself why I'm lugging the 2.8 when I also have the 300mm 4.5 which is no slouch, and has AF. But overall can't complain, they have developed a nice system for legacy lenses.
