Imageprint to Photoshop

I've been using imagePrint for years. I want to try printing directly from Photoshop but need reminders of the basic settings.
Epson3800
Printer or Photoshop to handle colors?
Gama 1.8 or 2.2?
How to turn off "High Speed" printing?
Etc...Thanks in advance for all help!

Hi Matt

Several issues to consider:
Install the appropriate ICC profiles for the paper/printer combination that you wish to use (this may already be done.
Do your soft-proofing in PS.
Most people leave the gamma at 2.2.
In the printer driver screen - make sure that the option for the printer to handle colour management is off. You are also able to manipulate the speed and quality of printing in the printer driver window - this is in properties or preferences.

Perhaps others with a mind to should post some screen captures of the various steps using the Epson 3800 printer driver screen.

I'm still a little confused. I have "let photoshop handle color" selected but the only place I can find to select a paper profile is in the Epson settings box. If photoshop is "handling" the color how does is know what paper is being used??
Also tried gamma 1.8 and 2.2, also selected in the Espson settings box, and it did not change the results. Only other spot I know of to change gamma is in photoshop preferences...will that effect printer ouput?

There is no "let photoshop handle color" option. You turn color management ON in photoshop (and select a profile) and turn it OFF in the printer driver.

Thanks but I don't see a place to select a paper profile in Photoshop...where is that option located?

I am away from my desk and don't have PS to try - but my recollection is that it is on the right side of the Print dialog (Ctrl+P).

Matt, try looking at two tutorials in the "understanding" series on this website, they deal with soft-proofing and printer colour management.
If the answers are not there for your questions then then the "Camera to Print and Screen" would be the way to go - since CPS was made before the release of Lr4 all the softproofing and colour management are delat with in PS5.

Interestingly, it is easier to follow the videos than a long-hand description.

I'm on my way. Once I realized the box that says "printer profile" is also "paper profile" thing started to come together.
