I'm sure someone in here must be scanning 120 negs with something other than Nikon's Coolscan 9000. They're going from anywhere between 4k to 7k at the moment and.. well..

That's a bit much at the moment.

Can anyone suggest any comparable alternatives that don't require me to sell my organs on the black market to purchase?

you could try just using your camera to photograph them.  The post processing is an interesting challenge, but it works quite well.

Wouldn't it make more sense to shoot them with a 35mm camera to begin with, then? Huh

There's a new Reflecta MF5000 and Plustek OpticFilm 120 out there. I'm not sure if they're as good as mighty 9000ED, but at least they should be better and more ergonomic than flatbed Epson.

Ah.  I was assuming -on the basis that you didn't have a scanner- that you were referring to old negs rather than new ones, and you were looking for an easy way to digitise them.

Are the Imacom FW/USB or do I have to install one of those silly cards into the back of my computer?
