I've been using Epson Exhibition Satin canvas and am wanting to try a canvas that has a smoother surface and/or tighter weave. Can anyone recommend a product that would be smoother than the Epson?

I don't remember what the Epson canvas looks like, but a couple years ago I tested about a dozen canvases and wound up with Canson Artist Canvas Water Resistant Matte for its relatively subtle weave, no OBs, good D-max, good color saturation and high tolerance of my unsophisticated stretching.

I recently tried Can 901 from Dura in Canada and it is very smooth. Also,Chromata White from Breathing Color is smooth.

I am not sure how different BC Chromata is from Lyve, but looking at my samples in front of me, Lyve and Epson Exhibition Canvas Matte looks to have about identical weave pattern to me. The fabric might be the same but the coating is definitely different though. Epson looks whiter than Lyve.
Lyve is one of the smoothest canvas I belive, so I don't know if you can find much better than what you got currently?
[OK, I compared them to Epson Satin sample as well, and it "looks" coarser than Epson Matte. It looks like the fabric pattern itself is the same (small weave) but the satin/gloss coat they put on top seems to accentuate the texture hence looking coarser.]

Try Fredrix 777 or 901 WR. They press the canvas texture as flat as you can get ........... not my taste, but I did ues it many years ago. It does print nicely without flaking (my experience).
Lexjet Matt Canvas is also a good smooth texture (not as much as Fredrix).

Fredrix came through with samples right away, no luck with other makers of canvas however.
The artist I'm photographing for liked the smooth weave of their 777VWR which will arrive early this coming week.
Thanks again for the suggestions.

I would agree with a few of these.
Fredrix, Canson, PremierArt and possibly Moab. We sell a decent amount of these. Fredrix and Premier may be a little thinner than the other 2, but have really nice quality.
Also, if you're going to stretch them for gallery wraps, they will work for those as well.
