I have been using my Z3200PS 24" flawlessly from my Mac Pro for a couple years now and make custom page sizes all the  time in the print driver.

I know have added a window 7 64 system to my network and like I do on my Mac, I print from PS6 and LR4.
My problem is creating custom page sizes in Windows.
Lets say I want to create a 13x19 custom page size.
When I go into "Custom Page" I punch in 19 for the width and 13 for the height, click save, then I get a message that basically says this is not possible and the driver will swap the size around. So it changes from 19 wide to 13 wide and 13 wide to 13 high.
This is no good, total waste of material.

Does anyone have experience printing from windows to a Z3200?
Oh, I forget to mention I am using the latest 64bit HP driver for the Z3200, I have tried both the PS version and the PCL version

Thanks
Steven

Try to do that and select "landscape" orientation.
Then you will want to throw your computer out of the window when you notice that it will in fact rotate the page orientation but NOT THE IMAGE. Yep... that is right, the page will be horizontal but the image will still be vertical so it will be a wreck. Luckly there is one turnaround: the "Rotate Image" check box. Using it along with the landscape orientation it will also rotate the image.
Printing from lighroom you will never need to use that check box.

Best regards.

Geraldo,
Thanks for the tip.
I got it to work  Smiley
SInce I have the Z3200PS model, is there any advantage to which HP drive I use?
I hace the PCL driver installed now as opposed to the PS driver. The PCL driver seems faster, but I am not sure what I am loosing from not using the PS driver. I assume I could not print from lets say Adobe Illustrator?

Lastly I am running booth Canson Plantine and Canson Baryta Photographique 310, I use the plantine for B&W and the Photographique for color work. The problem I am having is on the Plantine. sometimes after a job is finished and cut, I goto prnit the next job and the paper does not advance, I have to "push it" through a little while doing a paper advance, also as of lately when I print on the Photographique paper I am getting a thin scratch line on my prints, but not on the Plantine, I beleive they are both the same weight paper though....

I have both drivers installed also, but use the PCL 99,9% of the time. In fact the only reason I still have the PS driver is because of the postscript support (that I only needed 2 times in the last 3 years).

Never had the problem you describe and I use Canson Platine a lot. Are you using the manufacturer´s paper preset? Sounds like something may be wrong with your star wheel assembly or with its position (defined by the paper preset).

Both papers have the same weight but quite different thickness, as the Baryta Photographique is thinner and stiffer.

I will double check the .oms file. Maybe Canson posted updated .oms files for the Z3200.
Both the papers are very stiff and curled..

Would you happen to know the correct workflow for printing B&W images from LR4
I usually do my B&W conversion in ps6 with silver efex 2 and then convert the file into gray scale  16bit.

I use to print direct to my z3200 with submit job but I know like printing in LR4. My question is in LR4 since I am printing in Gray scale mode would,it be better to let the printer manage the color?

As I understand it printing on the z3200 in gray scale, it does not use c,m,y inks, just the 3 blacks and the GE.
Though I am not absolutely sure.

For the landscape size on roll paper I always create a print page with a 1 mm smaller width than the actual roll width measured by the printer. So for true 44" rolls I use a 1117mm width. To avoid the print page ending as a portrait print, so wasting roll paper. The driver will turn the page if the width of the roll is less than the chosen print page width, despite the landscape setting in the driver. The preview setting in the driver may then be a good thing if you are on a learning course.

The PCL3 driver does anything but Postscript interpreting. The default print page margins of both drivers act a bit different though. On a PS machine the PCL3 driver will not be limited in print length which may be an issue on non-PS models.

Look into Qimage. Excellent program for printing.

You'll probably never look back.
